世界运动会香港巡迴赛2024启动礼 执行董事郭基煇致辞(只有英文版)
Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong, Mr Gossow (Joachim Gossow, Chief Executive Officer, International World Games Association), Eric (Eric Fok, Advisor of the Local Organising Committee of The World Games Series 2024 Hong Kong), Stephen (Stephen Chan, Deputy Chief Executive, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited), Mr Wong Po-kee (Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of The World Games Series 2024 Hong Kong), distinguished guests, ladies and gentleman,
On behalf of Sun Hung Kai Properties, I extend a warm welcome to the International World Games Association and the close to 100 delegates who have travelled from around the globe to participate in the Games.
I trust you are having a great stay at our TOWNPLACE WEST KOWLOON, and here at our latest development GO PARK Sai Sha. We are very proud to host the Hong Kong series and you all!
It is an honour that the inaugural leg of the World Games will be held here in Hong Kong, Sai Sha, at GO PARK our new landmark. The games this weekend will be watched live by audiences around the world, as well as by locals and tourists on-site!
GO PARK is one of Hong Kong’s new facilities poised to drive our city’s status as a mega event and sports centre. GO PARK spans 1.3 million square feet - comparable to Kowloon Park – but it offers so much more than space. We have created a vibrant blend of amazing facilities - nature, indoor and outdoor sports, water sports park, dining, retail, and entertainment for people of all ages and different levels of sports interests. Notably, the indoor multi-purpose stadium where we will be having the games, was designed by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects. We also have facilities catering to diverse sports interests.
More importantly, GO PARK is not merely an event venue; it serves as a sports academy. We partner with close to 30 different sporting associations and schools to offer training and programs.
To sum it up, we have two goals for GO PARK, one is to promote Sports for All, in the community, at all levels. The second goal is to use GO PARK to help promote sports and cultural events tourism in Hong Kong. So yes, please don't forget to follow us on social media!
In recent years, the Hong Kong government has actively promoted sports and mega events, and this World Games series of course exemplifies that.
Additionally, sports economy is also in our Group SHKP’s DNA. Together with Hong Kong government’s Hong Kong Tourism Board, this Sunday marks our seventh year to be the charity and title sponsor of the Hong Kong Cyclothon. We anticipate a record participation of nearly 6,000 cyclists, including many from the mainland and around the globe. World-famous four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome will be coming to GO PARK on Saturday for a cycling clinic, and will join Cyclothon and the carnival on Sunday!
Thank you again world games and the organizer. And please come back to visit Hong Kong! On that note, let the Games begin!
Thank you.
