SHKP celebrates inclusion in Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index
Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) is delighted to announce its inaugural inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific), a testament to its outstanding sustainability performance ranking among the top 20% of companies in the region.
SHKP Executive Director Robert Chan said: “The recognition underscores SHKP’s strong commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, further affirming the Group’s steadfast belief in Building Homes with Heart.”
Chan highlighted SHKP’s dedication to developing green buildings, with a focus on achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold or Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for all new core commercial projects. Notably, SHKP’s four flagship projects - the International Commerce Centre (ICC), Sun Hung Kai Centre, One IFC, and Two IFC - have already earned LEED Platinum certifications under v4.1 Operations and Maintenance: Existing Buildings. Sun Hung Kai Centre, the Group’s headquarters constructed over 40 years ago, stands as the longest-standing commercial property in Hong Kong to achieve this honour. Additionally, the ICC garnered the highest marks (87 points) in Hong Kong for LEED certification. As of June 2023, the Group has earned an impressive 122 green-building-related certificates in Hong Kong.
SHKP’s ESG achievements have also been recognised by a number of other local and global indices. The Group has consistently secured the top position in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index with an AAA rating since 2020. Furthermore, SHKP has maintained an A rating in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment since 2021. Earlier this year, SHKP was also included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2023 and the S&P Sustainability Yearbook (China).
The DJSI Asia Pacific serves as a benchmark for assessing the long-term economic, environmental, and social performance of leading companies in the Asia Pacific region. In 2023, out of approximately 600 largest companies in the region, 156 companies were selected as DJSI Asia Pacific members.
