New Environmental Targets on GHG Emission, Water and Waste

GHG Emissions Management: Reduce the scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity of EOC-monitored buildings2 by 25% by 2029/30, against 2019/20 as the base year
Energy Management: Reduce the electricity consumption intensity of EOC-monitored buildings2 by 13% by 2029/30, against 2019/20 as the base year
Water Management: Reduce the water use intensity of EOC-monitored buildings2 by 5% by 2029/30, against 2019/20 as the base year
Waste Management: Achieve an annual diversion rate of at least 70% of construction waste in Hong Kong construction projects within the reporting scope

The Group will closely monitor our environmental performance and work progressively to achieve the targets.

Sustainable Building Commitment

The Group was recognized for our continued commitment to developing green portfolio and has been awarded numerous green-building-related certificates. The Group aims to attain LEED certifications for all its new investment properties. In particular, the Group targets to obtain LEED Gold or Platinum ratings for its core commercial projects under development. We have been awarded 92 green-building-related certificates and over 96% of ongoing construction sites (by total GFA) are registered with BEAM Plus.

New Climate Change Policy

The Group recognizes the risks and opportunities brought by climate change. During the reporting year, the Group formulated a new Climate Change Policy. The policy serves as a guide for the Group to mitigate the impacts of climate change and to enhance the climate resilience and adaptability of our operations.

  1. This year, SHKP enhanced its disclosure to report the number of BEAM Plus new and existing building certification (both comprehensive and selective schemes), LEED or BREEAM certificates received by properties managed under Hong Yip and Kai Shing in Hong Kong.
  2. EOC-monitored buildings are mainly SHKP’s major investment properties in Hong Kong managed by the Energy Optimization Committee(EOC).
